In her project The Exchange of Vows, Sarah F. Maloney presents her engagement with Fine Arts through an endurance performance. During a four-hour walk in the rain, fasting, wearing a lacy wool dress that is gaining weight with the accumulation of water, the artist walked Montreal’s suburbs. During those exhaustive hours the artist reflected on art, her own art practice and more so, reflecting on how rough paths can be worth the pain to more authentic and desired destinies.

Sarah F. Maloney is finishing her bachelor degree in Fine Arts from Concordia over the summer of 2010. This solo exhibition represents her studio art commitment.  Her main practice is driven from fibers, incorporating work in performance and interactive art. The performance is documented in objects, photographs and video in the current show.
