CTRLLAB RESIDENCY PROGRAM
ABOUT PROGRAM
This residency pilot program opens its invitation to artists from all over the world to live, create, and exhibit in the heart of the Plateau on St-Laurent Blvd in Montreal, QC, Canada. This residency program offers the unique opportunity to spend a two month period researching, creating, and living in a contemporary gallery that hosts various emerging and established artists. The living space where you would be creating your works is at the back of the gallery and consists of 500sq foot room to live and work{meters} with a full bathroom, a large storage space, and a full kitchen that is available to the resident. The work/living space also has its own entrance separate from the gallery’s to ensure the residents privacy during the operating hours, opening nights, and private events.
At the end of the residency we would offer the artist the opportunity to exhibit or perform his or her work for a one week period with a opening night in the gallery space. We are also open to the resident hosting workshops or artist talks as well as any other community based service, during their stay at Ctrllab. However, if the resident wants simply to focus on their work in a central/urban landscape that is perfectly acceptable as well.
Ctrllab has been named Montreal's Art House by its local community for exhibits and hosts events on weekly basis. Although the gallery space is completely separated with locked doors from the work/living space. The individual benefits from the weekly exhibits by building direct links to the Montreal art scene and other artists during their residency.
